Northwest News!

For the past couple of weeks, we have had unusually good weather.  Amazingly, it was HOT here yesterday!  Today, the weather is back to normal with overcast skys and rain.  For the youth club tonight, we are going to be driving up to Faith Baptist Church in Glengormley for their youth meeting at 7.30 PM, because The Junction is not available for us.

I am glad that we made hay while the sun was shining and put leaflets through 150 letterboxes on Tuesday and 290 on yesterday.  Hopefully, we will have a good day tomorrow at 11.00 for community outreach, as we strive to spread the gospel. 

REMINDER TO MEN: Our men’s fellowship is tomorrow morning at 9.00 AM at Yankees Cafe in Ballykelly.  Join us for breakfast, fellowship, Bible study, and prayer.

• Men’s Fellowship, 9.00 AM: Breakfast, fellowship, and Bible study at Yankees Cafe, Ballykelly.
• Community Outreach, 11.00 AM: Putting flyers through letterboxes.  Help us as we try to do 400 doors this Saturday.

Here is a reminder of some things that are coming up in the life of our church:

Sponsored Car Wash - Tomorrow, 26 April, 2-4 PM

• Location: Everglades Hotel Car Park (Prehen Rd, Bt47 2NH)
• Purpose: Raise fund to send a mission team from our church to Bury, England to help Bible Baptist Church  with their holiday Bible club.
• How Can You Help: Bring any equipment (buckets, sponges, hoses, old towels), two hands, and a willing heart to help us wash cars for a couple of hours.
• We will try to get there at about 1.15 PM to set up and start early!

Sunday, 4 May - All Meetings at Broomhill Hotel

• The Everglades Hotel is not available for us on Sunday, 4 May, so all our meetings will be at the Broomhill Hotel on the Limavady Rd.

Friday, 9 May, 7.00 - 9.00 PM - Youth Canoeing Activity

• Location: Creggan Country Park
• Cost: 8 pounds/person
• Lifts are available from the church office at 6.15 PM and we will be home by 9.00 PM.

Saturday, 17 May, 1-6 PM - New Members Class

• Location: Snodes’ House (10 Pelham Rd, Knightsbridge)
• Purpose: To talk about the importance, privileges, and responsibilities of being a church member.
• For Whom:  All those interested in becoming or learning more about becoming a church member.

Sunday, 18 May - Community Appreciation Day

• Location: Everglades Hotel
• Honouring those members of our community who serve us every day such as the police, fire, health workers, postal workers, politicians, etc.
• A special gift and thank you for each community servant in attendance.

Wednesday - Sunday, 21-25 - Bible & Local Church Conference

• Guest Preacher: Austin Gardner
• Services: Wed - Sun at 7.30 PM; Sunday 11.30 AM & 7.00 PM
• Training Sessions: Thur - Fri (10.30 AM - 1.00 PM)
  • Training local church workers in evangelism, discipleship, missions and Christian growth.

This will primarily be a notice for people who live in the States.  Our sending church, Vision Baptist Church, is hosting the 4th Pastor’s Conference for World Evangelism on Monday- Wednesday, May 5-7.  I believe the conference will be a big blessing to challenge and equip you to lead your church to be a world evangelism church.  My pastor has tons of experience of working in and leading others to get involved in world evangelism.  I know that he and the speakers will be a big blessing to you.  The cost is Free! You won’t want to miss this Sunday at Northwest Baptist Church!  We are having Friend Day and inviting all of our friends to join us for the service at the Everglades Hotel at 11.30 AM.  I will be starting a brand new message series called, “Back 2 the Future,” looking at end times events.  Here are the details:

• 10.30 AM - Discipleship Classes (All Ages) at Everglades Hotel
• 11.30 AM - Morning Service at Everglades Hotel (Creche for under 3s; Discovery Zone for under 11s)
• 1.00 PM - BBQ & Fun at Ness Woods
  • Cutlery, Meal, Baps, and Sauces will be provided.
  • What to Bring:
    • Drinks, desserts, and/or side dishes.
    • Lawn chairs and blankets if you have them.
    • Any sports equipment you would like to use.
    • Relaxing clothes to change into.
• 3.00 PM - Afternoon Music & Message at Ness Woods
  • There will be no regularly scheduled evening service.

We have some really cool things we are doing this weekend, and I hope that you will get involved.

Tonight 4.30 - 8.30 is our Teen Treasure Hunt.

Tomorrow morning at 11.00 AM is community outreach and we will be going door-knocking and inviting people to church.

Tomorrow afternoon at 1.00 PM is our servant evangelism event.  We have 150 water bottles to which we will rubber band gospel tracts (”the living water”), and then we will pass them out in city centre.  Meet us at the church office (10 Pelham Rd, Knightsbridge) to go with us.  We will have a great time!

Before the Sunday morning service, we start our Discipleship Class at 10.30 AM.  This will be a great thing to help you get grounded in your faith and to learn the basic lessons to teach someone else. 

Sunday morning is the second message in our Depression Series and we will be talking about “Overcoming Depression”.  You will want to be there to hear this message.  So come and bring a friend with you.

• WHERE: City Centre (Meet in front of the Junction on 8 Bishop St. at 4.30 PM)
• WHAT: Follow clues around the city centre that will lead you to hidden treasure.
• WHO: Ages 11 and up

This Sunday, we start a brand new message series called, “Coping with Depression.”  If you are someone you know struggles with depression, this series will be a help to them.  Below are the topics that we will cover:

30 March - “Understanding Depression”

6 April - “Living with Depression”

11 April  - “Overcoming Depression”

The deadline for youth and family camp registration is 31 March.  We need you to fill out an application form and turn in 10 pounds to hold your spot.  We already have 8 people registered to attend the camp, and I hope that you will be able to make it.
