Wednesday Night Round Up

Church is over for the night, and I am delighted with all that God has done and is doing.  We had a great Newcomer’s Group last night at our house, discussing the importance of Baptism.  (We are going to be having a baptismal service soon, so if you would like to be baptised, please let us know.)  We had 7 adults, 2 teens, and 1 child not counting our family and my wife’s parents who are with us.

Tonight was a great service as well with 21 in attendance and 2 first-time visitors.  Bro. Mike Smith did another great job preaching.  It was such a blessing to have him preach for us.  Please pray for him and Mrs. Carla Smith, Teri’s parents, as they fly out tomorrow morning for Alabama.

After the service, we had a good group stay and help us put together our February newsletter that will be going out to 138 familes around the area.  They are people that have either visited our church in the past or are prospective families who have expressed interest in visiting our church.

Here are our volunteers hard at work:

Statistics

Here is a summary of what happened statistically over the last couple of months.  Numbers are not the goal of our ministry; they are the result of our ministry.  As we share our faith, love people, win souls, and invite people to church, we will see the results of our work.

Bible Study Anyone?

I am curious to see if anyone is interested in getting together once a week for discipleship, Bible study, and discussion.  If you would like to study the Bible with me, just let me know and we will try to arrange a time that will work for everyone.  After we go through the first set of discipleship lessons, you will then be able to teach someone what you have learned.

Sunday Night Report

After a busy week, knocking 102 doors, putting information through 52 letterboxs, and having a creche training day yesterday, we had a great day today!  The Lord really blessed with 24 in attendance in the morning and 1 first time visitor.  We had 28 folks in the evening service to hear Pastor Mike Smith preach.  He did a great job preaching on “Maintaining our Great Salvation.”    Here are a few pictures from tonight.

Mike Smith Preaching Tonight!

We had a good service today with 24 in attendance.  The music was really, really good today.  It prepared the hearts for preaching, honored the Lord, and lifted hearts.  David does a phenomenal job leading the music, Teri does so well on the piano, and our people sing from their hearts, which is the most important thing.

I hope you can make it tonight to hear my father-in-law, Mike Smith, pastor of Bellingrath Road Baptist Church, preach.  He will be preaching tonight at 7.00 PM and Wednesday at 7.30 PM.  I know it is going to be a blessing.

The 25 Club

We had a great day yesterday in the services.  Thank you for attending and thank you for praying. In the morning, we continued our “Joined Together” series talking about “Learning to Share Unconditional Trust.”  In the evening, we looked at Giving God Maximum Glory in 2008 from Ephesians 3:20-21.Our attendances were down, but it was great to have most of our volunteers in places serving and working so faithfully.  God is going to do great things.  We are preparing, praying, and expecting His blessing. We talked alot about our goals for this year.  There is much we are asking God to do.  One big step is our 25 Club, which is a band of people who commit to knocking on 25 doors or putting leaflets through 25 letterboxes per day.  If we are going to get the gospel to all 33,000 homes in our city and surrounding area, then we need to contact 625 homes/week.  If 5 people committed to 125 homes/week, then we could do that.  Not only do we need help with making the contacts, but we also need people who will put together the literature to distribute.  If you want to get involved, please let us know.

Services Tomorrow

I am real excited about tomorrow and praying for God to give us a good crowd with visitors.  The message in the morning is about Joseph and Mary and “Learning to Share Unconditional Trust”.

Tomorrow night is vision night when we will highlight what God has done in the last year and our vision for the 2008.  Our theme for this year is “Maximum Glory in 2008″.  Join us for exciting services and bring a friend with you.

Men’s Fellowship

Just a reminder that Saturday morning is our Men’s Fellowship at McDonalds on the Crescent Link at 9.00 AM.

Reaching Out

I am so excited about reaching out and spreading the good news of Jesus Christ.  This week so far, we have knocked on 120 doors. Mark and I knocked on 60 doors on Monday. Grant and I knocked on 12 on Tuesday (the houses had long lanes and plenty of steps).  David and I knocked on 35 on Wednesday, and today, Grant and I knocked on 13 more.  We went to the cityside two days and to the waterside two days.

I am trying to knock on at least 25 doors a day, and I want to ask you to help me.  We met a lady today who is from a Baptist church in England and said that she may visit with us.  No matter what happens, we are trying to obey the Lord and share the gospel.

Saturday, we are going to go over to the town and pass out flyers to the shoppers.  I hope you can join us.  We will meet up at the office at 11.00 AM and then head over to the city centre.

Help When You Have Problems

I read this great post by Pastor Austin Gardner, and I thought it would really help some of our people who are going through some difficult times.
