Signs

We have two bus stop signs up around town for the next two weeks like the one you see below.  We are trying to plant and water; pray for God to give the increase.

Celebration Sunday Fun Day

Here is our version of Jesus’s feeding the five thousand and doing the miracles.  We are trying to get a crowd to be able to give the message of Christ, so that we can train those who are interested to go out and reach others.

This flyer will be going out to 14,115 homes on Monday and Tuesday.  Pray that God will use it and we will have many folks come out on Celebration Sunday so we can preach the gospel to them.

Update from Our Missionaries to Honduras

Dear Pastors;

Greetings in the name of our Saviour. How God has been answering your prayers since last we wrote. Join with us in praise for the following:

1). He enabled us to get our children settled into their new home before we left Ireland.

2). He has given us more four more church supporters who want to be a part of what God is going to do in Santa Lucia (Honduras).

3). He wonderfully undertook for us all while saying our good byes to our children and family. Yes there were tears but we felt the hand of our Lord upon us as He give us power to get on the plane.

4). He gave us a safe passage from Belfast to Newark and then by car to Ephrata in PA (despite the fact that our GPS broke as soon as we arrived and we were left with no directions to our destination.).

Please continue to pray for us in the following:

1). That the company who sold us our GPS will stand over it, as it is only 6 months old and that they will replace it as soon as humanly possible.

2). For our meetings this week. One on Wednesday and the other on Sunday, both in PA.

3). For our children that God will help, bless and protect them now that they are independent of our care.

In closing may we say a very big thank you to all of you who are giving us their churches financial support and keeping us before the throne of grace. Without you we would never have gotten this far.

May God bless each and every one of you.

Pictures of Balloon Release

Here are a few pictures from our Holiday Bible Club on 16-17 August.  We released 100 balloons with invitations to Celebration Sunday on 16 September attached.  Also, below is a close-up of the hats that we gave to all the children.p8170028small.jpgp8170032small.jpg

431 Doors

It was nice weather this morning and evening and quite raining this afternoon.  I put flyers through 174 doors this morning and then Teri and the kids helped me do 257 flyers through letterboxes this afternoon.  We also went over to the hotel to set up things for tomorrow, so we won’t have so much work in the morning.  It is nice that the hotel owner allows us to get into the rooms a day early.

I am very excited about preaching in the morning.  Next Sunday, Jonathon Powell from our home church, Carrollton Baptist Temple, will be with us to help out with singing and the children’s class.  He will be working on staff at our church for 3 months until December, and I am sure he will be a big blessing.

BBQ – Next Saturday

Teri and I want to invite all of you over to our house next Saturday for a BBQ at 6.30 PM.  Please let us know if you plan to attend and if you need directions.  We are looking forward to a good time of fun and fellowship together.

Are We Producing Fruit?

I read this article today on a fruitful life and what should be the fruit that we produce. I hope you will read it and all this truth to transform your life and your purpose for living.

Let me ask three questions. First, what is the fruit of an orange tree? In groups, I have heard the answers of “an orange” and “seeds.” Some might also say that the tree produces leaves, shade, and a little windbreak–so these would be fruit of sorts. And each of those answers are at least partially correct. Let me ask the question another way that may reveal the answer. Why does an orange tree produce fruit? An orange tree does not produce fruit so you and I can enjoy eating an orange. An orange tree produces oranges so it can produce seeds that will grow into more orange trees. It produces oranges to continue the species. God made it that way. So the real fruit of an orange tree is an orange tree.

R & R

It was great to get a bit of rest and relaxation yesterday and today as well as spend some quality time with family.  Even though all of us have not been feeling the best with colds and all that goes with it, we left on yesterday as planned and stayed in Larne last night at a B & B.  We took the Antrim coastal drive, which has to be one of the most beautiful drives in the world.  We came back today and tried to get caught up on things at the house – laundry, mowing the garden, cleaning the back patio, cleanin the house, etc.  We kinda got behind with the busyness of last week.

Tomorrow, I plan to do some more work around the house, do some door-to-door, and get ready for tomorrow night.  I am not sure how it is going to happen, but we are praying for 30 people on Sunday morning.  We should have about 9,000 invitations going out in the free newsletter about Celebration Sunday and our current preliminary meetings and sermons series, so hopefully we will see some fruit from that.  2000 went out last week.

Just wanted to check in and give you all some boring details about our life. :-)

Sunday Night Report

  • We had 13 in the service this morning and 11 in the service tonight.
  • God blessed with 3 visitors in the evening service: a married couple and a young man in his 20s who is the lady’s brother.  They saw our banners that we put out in front of the hotel.  The couple are from here but work in Cyprus, so we probably won’t see much of them unless they are back on holiday.
  • Having church in the hotel is working out great!  It is so nice to be able to come home after the services and just crash.  We have pizza in the oven right now and are going to just enjoy being together as a family.  It was also great because Teri was pretty sick tonight and could not go to church, so she did not have to worry about people coming to the house with her being sick.
  • It is great having people that are getting more involved with taking down signs, the children’s Discovery Zone, our workdays, etc.  You all are such a blessing.
  • We are looking forward to a few days off this week.  I am very, very tired from all the work with the Holiday Bible Club.  There is so much that I want to do, but I know that we as a family need a break and I need to spend some time with family.
  • I really enjoyed preaching today.  Leading singing and doing announcements are okay, but I love preaching.  I really hope that the message about giving God a high return on His investment in us struck home.  We have been so blessed but we with great blessing comes great responsibility.
  • I hope you make plans right now to invite someone to come next Sunday.

Report: Day 2 – Summer Celebration 4 Kids

I wanted to just give a quick report of the day today.  We had 40 kids today, and we praise the Lord for them coming.  We only ran 1 bus today instead of 3 which did the job and saved us some money as well. Many of the children we brought by parents.  It went very well.

We gave all of the children gift bags with sweets and invites for Celebration Sunday, as well as a hat the had Celebration Sunday on it.  Also, we did a balloon release at the end of 100 balloons with invites to Celebration Sunday attached to them.

Again, I want to thank Ronnie and Marsha Smith and family for their help.  Thank you to all of the parents who allowed their children to come, and thank you to my wife, who worked very hard and made so much of today and yesterday possible.  I have been working pretty much non-stop for the last couple of weeks, so on Monday and Tuesday, we are going to be away for a mini-holiday.

We are rejoicing and praising God.  To God be the glory.  Great things He hath done.

Also, looking forward to Sunday.  You won’t want to miss it.
