Mobile Phone vs. Bible

Posted in General by Travis Snode on the 31 May, 2007

Wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like  we treat our cell phones?

What if we carried it around in our purses or  pockets?

What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?

What  if we flipped through it several times a day?

What if we spent an hour or more using it every day?

What if we used it to receive messages from the text?

What if we treated it like we couldn’t live without it?

What if we gave it to kids as gifts?

What if we used it as we traveled?

What if we used it in case of an emergency?

This is something to make you go….”Hmmm…. where is my  Bible?

New Life in Christ Discipleship Course

Posted in Discipleship by Travis Snode on the 30 May, 2007

/l/800/812_s.jpgOne of the chief responsibilities of the church is to train and disciple people in Christian faith and life.  At Northwest, we believe strongly in discipleship.

We believe that not only should everyone be a disciple (follower) of Christ but also they should eventually begin to disciple others.  Discipleship is not just a course or a series of lessons; it is a life.  We have, however, put together a discipleship course that will help to ground Christians in their faith and prepare them to live a victorious Christian life.

If you would like to be involved in the the discipleship program, let us know.  You can find out more information about discipleship through our church by clicking here.

Good Football Match

Posted in Youth by Travis Snode on the 26 May, 2007

We had a good time last night playing football.  We had 8 young people come out to play football at St. Columb’s Leisure Centre.  Please continue to pray for these young people - many of them are not saved.  Pray that through our spending time with them, talking with them, and witnessing to them that we could be a help to them and that God would work in their heart and they would be saved.

Joel Osteen coming to Belfast

Posted in Growth by Travis Snode on the 24 May, 2007

A Night of Hope with Joel & Victoria Osteen imageLast night in the message, I mentioned about Joel Osteen.  At the time I did not realise that he was coming to the Belfast Odyssey Arena on July 3rd and to London and Birmingham on July 6-7.

The Belfast Odyssey arena currently has this advert on its ‘What’s on’ page.

An Evening with Joel Osteen is a chance for you to be encouraged by one of America’s leading pastors. You will be able to celebrate God’s goodness through worship and praise music…, you’ll learn more about Joel’s ministry and family, and Joel will have an inspirational message from God’s Word. At the end of the event, Joel will proclaim a special blessing over everyone in attendance… You don’t have to be a Christian or a member of any particular church. The only requirement is a ticket. [Cost £11.50].

So who is Joel Osteen?  Click here to learn more.

Irish Tract Outreach

Posted in Evangelism by Travis Snode on the 23 May, 2007

/i//ThisWasYourLife_large.jpgA very exciting outreach opportunity for our church is the translation of “This Was Your Life” into Irish.  We have mailed out copies of this tract to pastors and missionaries around Ireland.  We have had several orders come in already from Dublin and Cork.

Also, we are working to put together a list of Irish-speaking schools, churches, and priest/ministers, so that we can either mail them a copy of the tract or deliver one in person.

Please pray for this outreach opportunity that the Holy Spirit would open up doors and use it to draw souls to Christ.  You can learn more about this opportunity by clicking here.

Good Trip to Ballymena

Posted in General by Travis Snode on the 23 May, 2007

We had a good trip to Ballymena last night to hear the presentation on the Ark.  It was great to see how that science confirms rather than contradicts the Bible.  As one of the three major world events, the flood, along with creation and the coming of Christ, is something that is important part of the Bible and history.

You can learn more about creation science by clicking here.  The creation science ministry is a very important ministry that is a great help to churches and Christians, but it will never take the place of a local church that teaches and preaches the Word of God on a regular basis (Acts 5:42).   If we every fail to do that, we will cease to be obedient to God and useful to the cause of Christ.
